Measures

How can we measure changes from this type of therapy?

What’s this about?

Speech and language therapy can help people living with Parkinson’s have better conversations. But it’s hard to measure what “better” really means. We want to find the best ways to measure changes—not just in talking, but in things like confidence, relationships, and quality of life.

What will we do together?

  • Look at different tools that are used to measure change

  • Talk about how easy they are to use and what they actually measure

  • Choose our favourites and vote on which ones to use in a future study

  • Decide how to share what we’ve learned with others

What can you add?

We need the thoughts and experiences of people living with Parkinson’s, people who talk regularly with or care for someone with Parkinson’s, and speech and language therapists. We want to include people living with Parkinson’s who might have other conditions alongside.

  • Share your thoughts on the tools—what works and what doesn’t

  • Help choose the tools for a future trial

  • Make sure the tools reflect what matters to people with Parkinson’s and their families

What will it look like?

  • Around ten or twelve 1-2 hour meetings (online or in person) from early 2026 to early 2027

  • You help decide how and when we meet

  • Meetings will be friendly, flexible, and shaped by your ideas

Please get in touch with us if you need information, support or if you have a general query. We look forward to hearing from you.
